ABSTRACT
Dear Readers and Authors,
I am pleased to bring you Volume 9, Issue 4 of Pharmacognosy Communications. In this issue we present new research reports examining the pharmacognosy of several important medicinal plants including two studies examining the antibacterial activity of the endemic Australian plant Tasmannia lanceolata (Poir.) A.C.Sm. against Yersinia enterolitica and Bacillus anthracis. A further study reports the hematopoietic effects of Amaranthus cruentus L. extract on cyclophosphamide induced toxicity in rats. We also include a study reporting the isolation of the ellagitannin corilagen from Phyllanthus maderaspatensis L. for the first time. The final study included in this issue reports that Cordyline rubra Otto and A. Dietr. leaf and fruit lack antibacterial activity against a panel of human pathogens. Whilst this study reports negative results, it is important that these be published to decrease redundancy in testing between different research groups. Read more. . .
